By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 29, 2026: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg last week reviewed the implementation of large-scale industrial investment projects in Odisha.

The meeting reviewed the progress of Nalco’s brown field expansion of its smelter and captive power plant, as well as the Utkal ‘D’ and ‘E’ coal mines. Discussions covered land acquisition, rehabilitation, public hearings, Gram Sabha consultations, and infrastructure development linked to these projects.

It also assessed the Adani Group’s ongoing and proposed investments in the state. Projects include port expansion at Dhamra and Gopalpur, industrial parks, power, aluminium, cement, coal gasification, data centres, mining, and logistics. Special emphasis was placed on land requirements, road and rail connectivity, coastal regulation processes, and government support for smooth execution.

The meeting focused on resolving issues related to land acquisition, infrastructure, and ancillary requirements to ensure timely execution.

Senior officials from multiple departments—including Steel & Mines, Industries, Revenue, Home & Urban Development, Energy, Electronics & IT, Finance, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Commerce & Transport, and Water Resources—participated, along with representatives from IDCO, Odisha Mining Corporation, EPICOL, TPCODL, and others. District Collectors from Anugola, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Sundaragada, Kataka, and Bhadrak joined virtually.

Chief Secretary Garg stressed that timely implementation of mega projects is crucial for Odisha’s industrial growth, investment inflow, job creation, and overall economic development. She called for close coordination between departments, companies, and district administrations to resolve pending issues and ensure effective outcomes.
