By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, December 27, 2022: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the second Hockey World Cup being organised by his government in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela is going to be memorable. The 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup will be played in Odisha from January 13 to 29, 2023.

Recently, Naveen convened an all-party meeting at Bhubaneswar, inviting all political parties including the BJP and Congress regarding the upcoming Hockey World Cup. During the deliberations, one suggestion that Naveen Patnaik has picked up is inviting all the Chief Ministers to the Hockey World Cup in Odisha.

He is not content sending out letters to the various Chief Ministers of India. He is deputing his Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of States to travel across the length and breadth of India and personally hand over Naveen Patnaik’s letter of invitation to all the Chief Ministers of India.

While many Chief Ministers would have been content to showcase their singular popularity and presence at such a global sporting event, Naveen Patnaik has again displayed his statesmanship. Rising above political lines, he convened an all-party meeting and followed up by inviting all Chief Ministers to the Hockey World Cup, without any consideration to which political party they belong.

Ministers from Naveen’s Council of Ministers have started arriving at Chief Minister residences across India and over the next few days, each Chief Minister of India would be visited by an Odisha Minister sent by Naveen Patnaik, signalling how sports can be a great enabler of bridging the political divide and bringing all CMs of India on one platform, the Hockey World Cup 2023.
