By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, September 7, 2021: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said the Odisha government would be forced to impose lock down once again if the guidelines issued in view of Covid-19 are not followed by people in true spirit.

Reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the State, Patnaik said, “We have to strictly follow the Covid rules in order to be safe from a possible third wave.” Minor negligence could pose a major threat to all, he cautioned.

“The lock down has now been relaxed keeping in view the interests of the common man. But that doesn’t mean we loosen up on the rules. The State government would be forced to impose lock down again for collective interest if necessary,” he said.

Describing Covid appropriate behaviour as the strongest weapon to fight the pandemic, Patnaik said proper compliance of the guidelines is important for all.

“The children are yet to get the vaccine. So we have to be more careful for them,” he said. The chief minister directed educational institutions to conduct regular checks by setting up special teams.

Patnaik also directed the administration to keep a close watch on markets, religious institutions, health care institutions in order to ensure strict compliance of Covid rules.

In view of the festive season, the Patnaik advised everyone to be more cautious. He urged citizens to wear masks, wash their hands, maintain social distance and not go into the crowd, and said, “Our responsible behaviour during the festive season will be decisive to control the third wave.”
