By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, July 22, 2017: In a bid to resurrect the demorlalised Congress party in Odisha, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday formed a three-member team of observers to assess the political situation in the State.

Senior leaders Tamrdhwaj Sahu, Sushmita Dev and Jitendra Singh are part of the team and have been asked to submit a joint report to the Congress chief after their visit to the State.

“The team will jointly work with the AICC general secretary and secretary in-charge of Odisha to assess the political situation,” a Congress release said.

Earlier in the day, Odisha Congress president, Prasad Harichandan, Srikant Jena, Ramchandra Khuntia, Kanhu Charan Lenka and other senior leaders called upon Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and discussed on party organisation in the State.

Congress has been out of power since 2000 and in recently local body polls, the party fared very badly causing concern among the senior party leaders.
