By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, May 16, 2017 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday shot off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to intervene in launching of the National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINE&I).

“Government of Odisha has also extended support for establishment of the said Institute and has allocated Acre 73.86 of land free of cost near IIT, Bhubaneswar. However, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) is yet to take possession of the land and start construction of the building,” the letter pointed out.

“……..kindly intervene in the matter so that construction of the National Institute of New Energy and Innovation is started at the earliest,” the Chief Minister said in the letter addressed to Modi.

The state government has taken several initiatives in accordance with the National Development Goals including the recent announcement of Odisha Renewable Energy Policy 2016, the Chief Minister further said in the letter.

Earlier MNRE had announced to set up the NINE&I in Odisha to promote research and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
