By Bizodishadr sudeep satapathy, Bhubaneswar, April 23, 2016 : Dr Sudeep Satpathy, associate professor of physiology in KIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar, has been selected as sports medicine doctor for 2016 Rio Olympics.

He has been selected by the Olympic authority on the basis of his performance and experience in the field of sports medicine.

Dr Satpathy is the first doctor from Odisha to join Olympics.

Dr Satpathy completed his MBBS from VSS Medical College, Burla, and Diploma in Sports Medicine from International Olympic Committee. He is also a Member of the prestigious faculty of sports and exercise medicine, Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Ireland.

He was also the team doctor of the Sachin Tendulkar owned Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League 2015.

Congratulating Dr Satpathy for his success, founder of KIIT University and KIIMS Hospital Dr Achyuta Samanta said the selection of the doctor was rare honour for Odisha.
