By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar,February 27: In significant move, the Odisha government has abolished entrance tests for students seeking admissions to diploma engineering courses. The students will no longer be required to sit in entrance examination from the current academic year.

Admissions to the courses will be done on the basis of marks secured at the High School Certificate (HSC) examination.

A notification abolishing entrance examination for admissions to diploma engineering courses in the state was on Friday issued by the Skill Development and Technical Education department here.
The decision to do away with entrance examination for admissions to diploma engineering courses was taken earlier at meeting of the state Cabinet.

The notification clearly states that from now onwards admissions will be made on the basis of marks secured at the HSC examinations.

The Skill Development and Technical Education department’s notification says that as per the guidelines of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) a student securing 35 percent marks in his/her HSC examination is eligible to take admission to diploma engineering courses.
