UCCIBy Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, December 15, 2015 : Odisha has set an ambitious target of raising the share of manufacturing share in the state’s Gross Domestic product [GDP] to 22% in 2022 from the present level of nine per cent.

Speaking at a conclave “Highlights of IPR-2015, Ease of Doing Business, GOiPLUS & Land Bank” here on Tuesday, minister for industries, Debi Prasad Mishra said, “Odisha’s Gross State Domestic Product [GSDP] has remained above the national average and manufacturing sector that contributes around 9% to state GSDP would further rise to 15% by 2019, with the proposed 1.73 lakh crore worth of investment coming to the state. By 2022, we have an all India target to reach it to 22%. As a result, around 3.3 lakh direct and indirect employment will be created in the state.”

The conclave was organised by industries department, other state bodies and Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry [UCCI] – an industry body.

The minister claimed that the state ranked seventh position in the country in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’. “Formulation of Industrial Policy Resolution – 2015 will definitely boost the economic climate of the state”, Mishra declared.

UCCI president, Ramesh Mohapatra in his welcome address urged the government to only incentivize the industries under IPR 2015 but also ensure periodic interaction with industry associations to resolve their issues.

Principal Secretary, MSME, state government, Gagan Kumar Dhal that the state government has chalked out a fifteen point comprehensive action plan for MSMEs in the state.

“Attitude and mindset of entrepreneurs is important to get benefit under IPR, 2015,” said Sanjay Kumar Singh, MD, IDCO on the occasion.

In the technical session, Sanjeev Chopra, CMD IPICOL and Principal Secretary to Govt of Odisha, Industries department spoke about highlights of IPR 2015. This was followed by presentation on ease of doing business by Pranshu Jain, demonstration of GOiPLUS by Dr S. D. Sahu, demonstration on CICG framework and APAA by Aditya Mishra of CSM Technologies.

UCCI joint secretary Rajen Padhi anchored the meeting and Secretary UCCI, Prashant Satpathy gave vote of thanks.
