By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, September 8, 2015 : The Odisha government is planning to set up Cyber police stations in every district to tackle the increasing cyber crimes, according to chief secretary G cyber crimeC Pati.

Pati told the media after inaugurating a two-¬day workshop on ‘Cyber Crime Awareness’ at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) here on Tuesday that the State Government would hold more workshops and programmes to enhance skill of the police personnel who want to specialise in the cyber¬related investigation assignments.

Speaking n the occasion, director general of police Sanjeev Marik said the State needs more cyber police stations in view of the growing graph of cyber crimes. “Like Energy police stations, we also need Cyber police stations as cyber crimes are on the rise everywhere,” he said.

Marik said a Cyber police station would be established in the State capital city very soon. “We will finalise a site for the police station within a week,” he added.

In the workshop, the chief secretary said specialised modules need to be designed for prevention, detection and prosecution in the cases of cyber crime. “We have to train young professionals interested in cyber security to fill up the void in the investigation,” he said.

He said a virtual network of investigators could be created to work on a complex case of cyber crime. A standard operating procedure (SOP) should be formulated for capacity building of investigators, he added.

BPSPA Director Dr Binay Kumar Behera said the BPSPA would organise such type of workshop with collaboration of the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) for enhancing skill of the police personnel in the field of cyber security and its techniques.

“As you know, cases relating to cyber crime are increasing exponentially day by day, and we have to be very informed and smart about the process of investigation,” he said.

Among others, DSCI CEO Nand Kumar Saravade, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (Government of India) Director Dr AS Kamble, experts from across the country and police personnel from across the State attended the workshop. Printed From S
