Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 31, 2015: In an apparent move to contain the rising incidence of crime in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the Odisha police on Tuesday asked house owners in both the cities to furnish details about their tenants.

The house owners of the twin city have been asked to submit detailed information about their tenants in a declaration form to the concerned police station of their respective areas in every two months. They can also provide the information to the police through e-mail. If any house owner is found to have furnished wrong information to the police, he/she will have a six-month jail term with a fine of Rs 1000,” Commissioner of Police R.P. Sharma said.

The house owners have been asked to submit the information within 10 days after the rules come into force from April 8 next,” the CP said.

β€œIt would be easier for the police to track the modus operandi of the people who are staying on rent in the twin city. We have taken the decision as we have found that some of the outsiders staying in the twin city on rent are involved in criminal activities,” Mr Sharma added.
