The vigilance wing of Odisha police on Friday arrested Dr Panu Charan Mandal, in-charge medical officer, Madhyakhanda Community Health Centre (CHC) under Dasapalla police limits while accepting bribe to pass a bill.

Dr Mandal was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 7,500 from the complainant Satyanarayan Sahoo for passing his arrear bill towards engagement of vehicle in the CHC on contract basis.

“As per the director of vigilance SP Dolagobinda Parida, Bhubaneswar division laid a trap. The in-charge medical officer was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe. The money was recovered from his packet. A case has been filed against Dr Mandal under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,” a spokesperson of the Vigilance wing said.
