As many as 2000 posts of doctor and other medical staff are vacant in three medical college and hospitals  in the State, said Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in the Assembly on Friday.

In a written reply to a question from Dilip Kumar Ray (BJP), the minister said steps are being taken to fill up the vacancies through recruitment as per the rules.

According to the minister, 346 posts of professor, associate and assistant professor are vacant in Berhampur, Burla and Cuttack medical colleges.

More than 700 various non-medical posts are vacant at Cuttack’s Sriramachandra Bhanja medical college and hospital. These include for 409 class, 129 staff nurse and 140 laboratory assistants, pharmacist, laboratory technician and radiographer posts.

Similarly, in Berhampur M K C G medical college and hospital, 700 posts and 519 posts in Burla’s Veera Surendra Sai medical college and hospital are yet to be filled up, the minster informed the House.
