Train services along the south Odisha were disrupted after suspected Maoists blasted the railway track between Muniguda and Munikhol in Rayagada district late on Friday night in which a Railway official was injured.

According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials, the CPI (Maoist) triggered two blasts in the railway track at around 2.30 a.m. in the down line railway track.

The incident took place at a distance of 100 metres from the CRPF camp.

Following information, Rayagada superintendent of police (SP) along with a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs rushed to the spot to investigate the matter.

Police found a banner and some posters of the CPI Maoist in which left wing ultras have protested the visit of US president Barrack Obama to India.

Train services in Muniguda-Ambadola route under the Sambalpur Railway Division of the East Coast Railway were disrupted following the blast.

The Bhubaneswar bound trains coming from Raipur and Vishakhapatnam have were halted at Rayagada station. Similarly, 18107 Rourkela-Koraput Express was stopped at Ambodala, 18517 Korba-Visakhapatnam Express at Ambodala, 13351 Dhanbad-Alleppey Express at Kesinga, 12889 Tata-Yesvantpur Express at Badmal, 58529 Durg-Visakhapatnam Passenger at Titlagarh, 08302 Yesvantpur-Sambalpur Special at Singapur Road, 12843 Puri-Ahmedabad Express at Rayagada and 58530 Visakhapatnam-Durg Passenger at Titlagarh.

However, the railway officials said that the resumption of train services would be restored very soon.
