By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, September 22, 2019: A delegation from Republic of Korea is scheduled to visit the state on Monday to explore and discuss various investment opportunities in Odisha.
Senior executives from Korea companies like Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Samsung India, Samsung Electronics, Kia Motors, Hanwha Capital etc are visiting Odisha. Besides, representatives from Korea International Trade Association, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency, Korea SME’s and Startups Agency and Korea Tourism Organization will be part of the business delegation.
Led by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Shin Bongkil, the delegation will meet chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the evening at the state secretariat, officials said.
Earlier, South Korean steel giant Posco had pulled out of its Odisha project following intense protest against land acquisition and delay in getting mining block. The Rs 52,000 crore steel project proposed near Paradip could not be taken off more than a decade after the company had signed a MoU with the state government in June 2005.
Senior officials will make a presentation on investment ecosystem, scope of investment on focus sectors, reforms undertaken by the state government over the years and incentives provided by the state government to attract investments during the delegation’s meeting with Naveen.
The Korean delegation is also scheduled to visit the electronics manufacturing cluster being developed near the state capital.
Electronics manufacturing is one of the focus sector of the state government.
The state government has set up a dedicated electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) at the Info Valley developed over an area of 215 acres on the outskirts of the city to provide world class infrastructure to electronics manufacturing units. The infrastructure is being developed with an investment of Rs 200 crore.
