By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 26, 2018: Four women Maoists were killed during an exchange of fire between security personnel and left wing extremists near Dokari ghati in Narayanpatna of Koraput district late on Sunday night, Koraput superintendent of police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh said on Monday.
The four ultras are believed to be members of the Andhra-Odisha Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist).
A joint team of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched combing operation in the Dokari ghati area after getting a tip-off on Maoists presence, sources said.
While bodies of three Maoists were recovered on Sunday night, another body of a red rebel was recovered on Monday morning by the security personnel.
A huge cache of arms, ammunition and items used by Maoists were also seized from the spot.
“Out of four women, one has been identified as Ungli alias Aarti of Chhattisgarh. She was carrying a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on her head,” informed the SP.
As many as 15 Maoists were suspected to be present at the spot during the exchange of fire, he added.
