By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 15, 2017: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik felt uneasy at the Independence Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Tuesday leaving his well-wishers a little scare.
However, he managed to take the salute during the State-level parade to mark 71st Independence Day. Patnaik, after hoisting the national flag, had to cut short his speech after feeling unwell and left the podium midway.
The 71 year old CM left the event visibly uncomfortable. After an hour’s rest he was back, attending to his schedule which included and event recognising outstanding service from policemen.
“He felt slightly uncomfortable due to high humidity level. Doctors examined him and found no serious health issues. He is now completely fit and fine and will attend all programmes as per schedule,” PRO Sukanta Panda said.
Later, in a tweet Patnaik stated that he felt a little dehydrated and advised the children to take plenty of water before going out in sun.
“Should have had adequate water for parade in sunny humid conditions. Felt bit dehydrated. Perfectly fine now with two glasses of nimbu pani (lemonade). Attending rest of day’s programs. Must tell all you kids out there to drink adequate water before going out in sun. Thanks for your wishes,” he tweeted
Friends and critics conveyed their best wishes over social media. West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee wished him a speedy recovery. And Patnaik replied, he was perfectly alright now after a bout of dehydration.
