cabinet committeeBy Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 10, 2017 : A cabinet committee on Friday set timeline for completion of 28 projects in various sectors in Odisha.

Cabinet Committee Investment (CCI) Project Monitoring Group meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi reviewed the progress of these projects in the presence of Subha Kumari, Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and Director in the Prime Minister’s Office S.D. Sharma.

They reviewed the progress of the ongoing mega projects that include railways, national highways, coal and power sectors.

“We reviewed 28 projects relating to railways, national highways and coal mine projects. The implementation issues raised by project developers were discussed and resolved,” said Padhi.

The chief secretary further elaborated, “This meeting is held regularly in each two months. In todays’ meeting many resolved issues were removed from the website and new issues were taken up. Time line was set for each pahse of the work”

The issues relating to rehabilitation, disbursement of compensation, shifting of utilities, compliance with forest diversion proposals, forest clearance, evacuation of encroachment from acquired land, DGPS survey, and compensatory afforestation were discussed, said the Chief Secretary.

The review was held in two sessions in morning and afternoon and in the first session a total of 13 railways, national highway and irrigation projects were looked in. The major projects railway projects reviewed included Khordha-Bolangir new broad gauge railway with project cost of Rs.3550 cr, doubling of Sambalpur-Bamur railway line with project cost of Rs1111 cr, doubling of Sambalpur- Titilagarh railway with project cost of Rs1078 cr, Haridaspur-Paradeep rail link project involving investment of around Rs.1000 cr, Talcher-Bimilagarh new rail line ( 154 kms) project with estimated cost of Rs.810 cr and Angul-Sukinda new rail line project ( 98.7 Km) with estimated cost of Rs. 638.5 cr.

The national high way projects reviewed included Tileibani-Sambalpur section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs.752 Cr., Binhjabahal-Teleibani section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs.1057 cr., Baharagora-Singara section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs.734 cr, 6 laning of Bhubnaneswar-Chandikhol section of NH-5 with estimated cost of Rs1047 cr, Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 with estimated cost of Rs.1082.36 cr, Biramitrapur-Barkot highway project with estimated cost of Rs.778.15 cr, Chandikhol-Duburi-Talcher NH with estimated cost of Rs.996 cr, Angul-Sambalpur Toll road project involving investment of Rs. 1220 cr., Cuttack-Angul toll way project with estimated cost of Rs.1123.69 cr and construction of bypass link in Panikoili-Rimuli NH ( 106 kms) with project cost of Rs.1410 cr. Progress regarding Rengali Irrigation Project comprising of left bank and right bank was also reviewed in the meeting.

In the second session, the progress of around 15 coal and power projects was discussed. The major projects were coal mining projects of MCL, Hingula OCP, Jharsuguda-Barpali coal transportation railway line, Hingula OCP, Kaniha OCP, Ananta extension OCP, Orient OCP, Orient underground mines, Talcher Super Thermal Power Project, OPGC expansion project at Ib Thermal, Darlipali STPP, Lanco Babandh Power ltd, Odisha Ultra Mega Power Project and Technical Ammonium Nitrate project at Paradeep.
