By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 3, 2017 : Odisha will fail to meet the target in collecting revenue from the mining sector in 2016-17.
Incidentally, the state government has not been able to achieve its revenue collection target from mining sector since 2012-13, steel and Mines minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick told the state assembly on Friday.
While the state government has set a target to collect Rs 7,000 crore in 2016-17, it has collected Rs 3,715.08 by end of February end.
With just one month left for this fiscal, the state government is unlikely to meet the target.
The state government had collected mineral revenue of Rs 5,047 crore in the last fiscal as against a target of Rs 6,626 crore, said an official in the mine department.
