By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, January 16, 2017 : Vigilance sleuths continued their raids on petrol stations and gas agencies on Monday to verify theft and adulteration of fuel and cooking gas. The raids were conducted on 9 gas agencies across 6 districts of Odisha.
The vigilance sleuths verified the stocks at various stations. The officials raided gas agencies in Puri, Khurda, Angul, Jajpur and Berhampur districts were raided by the officials this morning, sources said.
“Joint inspections are on at petrol stations and gas agencies. We don’t know about the allegations that have been brought against these stations and agencies, but as per the orders of the Vigilance DIG we have provided inspectors. The results will be analyzed after the operation is complete. Periodical enforcement is being done by our officials at a district level. Cases have been lodged based on various sections of the Legal Metrology Act. In many cases, petrol stations are found supplying fuel without required verification and there are also instances of short delivery, and discrepancies in measurement. In case of gas agencies we check the weights being delivered and the quality of fuel being sold,” said Director of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare department, Anant Kumar Bhuyan.
Earlier on Saturday, similar raids were conducted across the State including the gas agency office in Talcher town in Angul district owned by elder brother of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister and the BJP leader, Dharmendra Pradhan.
