By Bizodisha Bureau, October 20, 2016 : Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik once again is hopeful a sizeable foreign direct investment [FDI] in the state from foreign countries even after the South Korean steel major, Posco virtually shut its 12 million ton steel plant project near Paradeep.
Patnaik’s claim follows his meeting on Thursday with ambassadors of at least 20 countries at New Delhi. The CM also invited them to attend the Make In Odisha Conclave scheduled to be held in the State from November 30 to December 02.
“We invited them to attend the Odisha Conclave. We are certainly hopeful that a sizable investment would be done in our State. Several ambassadors have agreed to attend the meet,” Patnaik told reporters after the meeting.
Odisha has worked out some 125 projects which it will showcase at the upcoming Conclave in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). The conclave would showcase the policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and manufacturing prowess of the state.
The Odisha government is also likely to announce sector specific policy launches prior to the conclave aimed at attracting investments to the State. It also has plans to conduct road shows in Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune on October 25-27. A roadshow is also proposed to be held in Delhi in the first week of November with an aim to interact with potential investors, officials said here.
