By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, October 7, 2016 : Odisha’s plan expenditure has shown an upward trend in the current fiscal.
The plan expenditure during FY 2016-17 at the end of September has been pegged at Rs 19087 crore up by 26% of the expenditure achieved during the same period in last fiscal.
It also comprises of around 42% of budget estimate, officials said.
The plan budget utilization in agriculture and allied sectors has been around Rs 4837 crore at the end of September which is around 44% of the budgeted estimate for the department.
Similarly, the utilization in infrastructure sector has gone up to around 51% against the spending of 41% during last financial year. In real terms, the expenditure in this sector has touched Rs.5734 crore, the officials added.
The social sector spending followed the same pattern with utilization crossing Rs 7568 crore against an expenditure of around Rs 6648 crore during the same period of last fiscal.
The Revenue collection from both the own tax and non-tax sources has been pegged at Rs 12812 crore.
Presiding over all secretaries meeting held here on Friday, chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the departments to make the expenditure more outcome & utility oriented for the people and the state.
The departments were asked to give their realistic requirement for supplementary budget by 25th October, 2016.
Development Commissioner R. Balakrishnan participating in the deliberations advised the revenue earning departments to take proactive measures for augmenting revenue collection to support the higher plan expenditure.
The principal Secretaries and Secretaries were also advised to scale up work culture in their respective departments and make best utilization of the new young human resources who have joined the Odisha secretariat service cadre recently.
