By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, September 20, 2016 : Odisha can only real develop if the deprived people could avail the benefits of all socio-welfare measures of the government.

This was the crux of the three-day deliberations at the Odisha Vikash Conclave 2016, which was acknowledged by both the state and union governments, said the chief organizer of the conclave, Mr Jagadanand.

During the deliberations, union and state ministers, bureaucrats, corporate leaders, intellectuals, development activists and eminent people from other walks of life debated on at least 11 important subjects like health, food and nutrition security, water and sanitation, governance, tribal empowerment and development, budget and fiscal management, school education and quality learning.

“Impressed by the thoughtful deliberations by the panelists, the Union government and Odisha Government have evinced interests to share the recommendations of the conclave and invited us to carry further the development dialogue,” said Mr Jagadananda.

Niti Ayoga vice chairman Dr Arvind Panagariya who has extended invitation to the organizers of the conclave for holding a similar event in New Delhi said the such deliberations would not only benefit Odisha but other states, as well.

Mr R Balkrishnan, the Development Commissioner (DC) of Odisha, – also invited the representatives of Odisha Vikash Conclave to share their recommendations and work alongside the Odisha government to carry forward the development goals.

“Development of Odisha is not the sole concern of the State Government; – the civil societies have a great role to play in it. I’m quite happy such a fantastic conclave with scholars and people from the grassroots was organised,” Mr Balkrishnan said.

The DC informed that keeping in view the centenary celebration of Odisha formation day in 2036 the state government was preparing a vision document.

Odisha industry, school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Nayak, who attended the concluding ceremony of the conclave, – said the state had made significant development in different parameters between 2000 and 2016.

Lauding the role of civil societies in development process, the minister said the department of planning and coordination should be remained as planning and convergence for better coordination among various stakeholders.
