By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 2, 2016 : Paradip Port port handled a record throughput of 8.06 MMT in July surpassing the earlier highest record of 7.61 MMT in March this year.
The Paradip Port continues with a quantum jump in the cargo handled in a single month among all the major ports in the country.
This record handling of cargo growth in July 2016 versus the same month of previous year in 2015 is 32% more (in July 2015, PPT had handled 6.09 MMT).
The major growth of cargo came in July 2016 with addition of 8 lakh tonne of POL, 6 lakh tonne of imported coking coal and 6 lakh tonne of other cargoes like imported limestone, dolomite, etc.
Incidentally, in the four months (April-July) of 2016-17, the port handled 28.65 MMT of cargo compared to 24.34 MMT in the corresponding four months of 2015-16 witnessing a growth of 17.75%.
The port authorities have taken necessary steps in recent months not only for the port customers to do “Business with Ease” as per the initiatives of the Ministry of Shipping, but its efforts have taken the port in achieving many records in the history of the port.
