Earlier, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had disallowed admission in MBBS and BDS streams in the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela, this year as the College lacked infrastructure as per the prescribed norms.

However, challenging the order of the Council, the Hi-Tech Hospital authorities had moved the Odisha High Court, which, in its order, had asked the MCI to allow the Hospital authorities to hold admission by as per the OJEE counseling process and intimate the students accordingly.

The Court had also made it clear that both the Hi-Tech and the OJEE authorities can take steps in this regard as per rules.

Even as the matter was sub judice, the Hi-Tech authorities, in gross violation of the directive of the court, went ahead with the admission process by conducting a separate entrance test without informing the OJEE and the state government.

But as the incident came to the fore, secretary, Skill Development and Technical Education, has directed the OJEE authorities to probe as to on what basis the Hi-Tech authorities had conducted the admission process, and submit a report at the earliest.

“We had no information about the admission done by the Hi-Tech authorities. We have gone through the order of the Odisha High Court regarding admission in Rourkela Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital. We will apprise the government about the deviation of rules by the concerned hospital authorities”, OJEE chairman Dr Tusharkant Nath told the media on Sunday.

On the other hand, chairman of the Hi-Tech Group, Tirupati Panigrahi claimed that there is no violation of the Court order as the admission has been done as per rules.
