By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, September 28, 2015 : US-based Mayo Clinic has expressed interest in setting up a global level cancer research institute in Odisha.
Mayo Clinic is a non-profit medical practice and medical research group based in Rochester, Minnesota. It is the first and largest integrated non-profit medical group practice in the world, employing more than 3,800 physicians and scientists and 50,900 allied health staff.
Mayo Clinic representative Dr Debabrata Mukhopadhyaya on Monday met chief minister Naveen Patnaik here and gave a proposal in this regard, according to a press release by the chief minister’s office.
“Mayo Clinic, which is a top global cancer research institute, has expressed its interest to set up a cancer research institute in Odisha”, the release said.
The chief minister assured Mukhopadhyaya that the state government would provide all possible support for success of the project.
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will also back up necessary support for setting up the state-of-the-art Cancer Research Institute in Odisha.
