Want a better environment or not, Choice is yours. This is the message loud and clear from the internationally acclaimed sand artist, Manas Kumar Sahoo, who has a sand sculpture to celebrate World Environment Day 2015 on the golden sea beach of Puri, 65 kilometer from here. on the eve of World Environment Day (WED) 2015 on Friday.
WED is observed since 1973, In 43 years of its history, WED movement has urged people around the world to save environment, become aware of the threats posed by climate change and take affirmative action.
The WED theme this year is therefore “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.” Living within planetary boundaries is the most promising strategy for ensuring a healthy future. Human prosperity need not cost the earth. Living sustainably is about doing more and better with less. It is about knowing that rising rates of natural resource use and the environmental impacts that occur are not a necessary by-product of economic growth.
Manas’s sand art on the occasion calls upon the people for save environment, and to create good and healthy environment for future generation. Environment is the main cause of natural calamities like flood, earthquake, tsunami etc. Mr. Sahoo shows in his art one side a green land in full of trees and another side completely concreate jungle in so many buildings. The sand sculpture is of 20 feet length made with 10 tons of sand, with a hard labor of nearly 8 hours and with a message “Let’s make our world a greener planet.
