By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, August 2, 2026: The public sector major National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) on Friday reported a 90.87% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 2,003.14 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 1,049.48 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

National Aluminium Co Ltd (Nalco) is a ‘Navratna’ company under the mines ministry. It is one of the country’s largest bauxite, alumina,
aluminium and power complexes. Currently, the Centre owns 51.28 per cent of Nalco equity capital.

Revenue from operations rose 39.28% year-on-year to Rs 5,302.38 crore from Rs3,806.94 crore. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, revenue increased 5.78%.

At the operating level, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) jumped 81.45% year-on-year to Rs 2,707.50 crore from Rs 1,492.14 crore. EBITDA also rose 15.24% sequentially. Total expenses increased to Rs 2,786.78 crore over Rs 2,501.18 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The company’s board of directors also recommended a final dividend of Re 1 per equity share of face value Rs 5 each, equivalent to 20% of the face value, for the financial year 2025-26. The total dividend payout amounts to Rs183.66 crore and is subject to shareholder approval at the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting.

NALCO said it delivered strong operational and financial performance during the quarter, supported by operational efficiency and financial management.

According to the company, the first-quarter performance was supported by favourable global aluminium prices, higher production and sales volumes, increased domestic alumina sales, and a conducive domestic business environment.

During the quarter, NALCO achieved its highest-ever first-quarter bauxite excavation at 19.52 lakh tonnes. The company also recorded its highest ever first-quarter calcined alumina production at 5.77 lakh tonnes.

On the sales front, NALCO reported its highest-ever first-quarter alumina and hydrate sales at 3.47 lakh tonnes. The company said it remains focused on completing its ongoing expansion projects, adding capacities, improving operational efficiency, optimizing resource utilisation and strengthening research and development initiatives.
