Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, May 28, 2015 :
The state owned Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) will market the products manufactured by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises [MSME] under the brand name of Odi-Tech in the country and abroad.
To begin with, OSIC plans to market agricultural products like Power Thresher cum-Winnower, Pedal Thresher, Cono Weeder and Heavy Soil Plough. These products would as per the design and specification of Directorate of Agricultural and Food Production, so that quality can be ascertained for the benefits of the beneficiaries, officials said.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had launched Odi-Food series in the MSME Trade Fair held early this year, 2015. The Double Fortified Salt is the first item to be launched in the Odi-Food series.
As part of the move to popularize and sale of MSME products the State Government has entrusted the MSME department for brand building under two major brand name Odi-Food (for food items) & Odi-Tech (for non-food items).
The State based MSMEs earlier had no common platform to sell their high quality products depriving them to reach the national and International market.
The MSME Department has plans to include more items very shortly under Odi-Food and Odi-Tech through OSIC.
The OSIC proposes to include cashew products, turmeric powder, chilli powder and rice produced by tribals in KBK Districts, which are in great demand in both the national and international market. However, but the farmers who are harvesting these products are not getting their due prices due to their inability to market their products in an organized manner, the officials said.
The OSIC is discussing with various apex Industrial Associations of the State to short list these products.
