By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, December 2, 2023: Odisha government has taken a pro-active move to address land disputes and ensure people receive their Record of Rights (RoR) for land at the earliest. VK Pandian, chairman of 5T, conducted a comprehensive review of land disputes in various regions directed officials to promptly resolve the disputes and expedite the issuance of RoRs.
In Jharsuguda district, land disputes affecting 18 villages in Lakhanpur tehsil and one village in Jharsuguda tehsil, displaced due to the construction of the Hirakud dam, have been resolved. In the initial phase, chief minister Naveen Patnaik will distribute land pattas to 900 families from seven villages. Meanwhile, land-related disputes in 22 villages of Sorada block in Ganjam district will be addressed, and land pattas will be distributed on December 14.
In Jatni locality, Khurda district, the Khasmahal land issue has been resolved, and distribution of pattas for the area’s first phase is scheduled for January. Additionally, directions have been issued to resolve Khasmahal category land issues in Puri district. Puri Municipality has leased 504 acres of land to individuals and organizations, and the leased lands will soon be regularized through amendments to the Odisha Government Land Settlement Act.
Furthermore, a decision has been made to address land disputes in Rengali tehsil of Sambalpur district through a hi-tech survey, demonstrating the government’s commitment to resolving long-standing land-related issues.
