Post the devastating earthquake in Nepal last month, there has been some 30 tremors, most of them being mild. However, the Met centre here said the quake with its epicenter at latitude 27.70 North and longitude 86.00 East in Nepal measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, which is of ‘great intensity’.
The epicenter of the earthquake is at a distance of about 825 km from Bhubaneswar in the direction of North and hence no major damage occurred in Odisha.
The tremors were felt for a few seconds at many places in the state, including the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Sundargarh.
People, here, were seen rushing out of high-rise buildings and apartments into the open.
