By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, May 19, 2022: The Odisha government made a budgetary provision of Rs 428.95 crore for development of a mega aluminium park in Angul proposed since 2010. The decision in this regard was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
It also approved a new scheme – Financial Assistance for Development of Mega Aluminium Park at Angul, along with the budgetary support for IDCO (Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation), the implementing agency. The project will be implemented during 2021-22 to 2023-24, Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra told reporters here.
The Aluminium Park at Angul is expected to give a major boost to downstream aluminium industries in the state. A joint venture of aluminium major Nalco and Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco), the Aluminium Park has drawn the interest of several investors to set up industries.
Angul Aluminium Park Private Limited was incorporated on July 30, 2010 as a non-government company with an aim to manufacture Aluminum (includes basic processing, smelting, refining for production of base metal; its further rolling, drawing and extruding; and production of powders or flakes, foil, plates, sheets or strip, bars, rods, profiles, wires, tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings).
