By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, April 15, 2020: The coastal town of Kendrapara now has a hospital with 110 beds including 10 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, dedicated to Covid-19 patient exclusively.
The SOA Deemed to be University has assisted the Odisha government in launching a hospital at the Government Polytechnic at Chhata near Kendrapara in order to deal with Covid-19 cases on Wednesday. Earlier, the SOA had launched a 525-bed Covid Hospital in its campus in the state capital Bhubaneswar.
All necessary life-saving devices and other equipment including ventilators have been provided at the hospital.
The state goernment has funded setting up of the new hospital, doctors, nurses and para-medical staff of the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medicine will look after the patients and take care of the technical expertise required at the new hospital facility.
During the commissioning of the hospital, Kendrapara District Collector Samarth Verma was present. On Monday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at Kendrapara between the District Collector and Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital, Dr Pusparaj Samantasinhar.
SOA’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, SOA’s Director Prof Manas K Mallick and Kendrapara Deputy Collector Jyoti Prakash Mohapatra were also present on the occasion.
