By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, May 30, 2025:: The Odisha Cabinet has enhanced the upper age limits from 32 to 42 years for entry into government service.
“In order to provide ample opportunity to overage aspirants to participate in different recruitment examinations, the Government, after careful consideration, has decided to enhance the upper age limits from 32 to 42 years,” an official press release said.
As per reports, the upper age limit for entry into government service is governed under the Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989. As per the provisions contained under rule 2 of the said rules, the upper age limit for entry into government services is 32 (thirty-two) years.
As per the department release, “Numerous representations have been received from the different quarters for enhancement of the upper age limit so as to enable the overage aspirants to participate in the upcoming recruitment process.
As per the Odisha government, the above revision in the upper age limit won’t apply in the following cases:
Where a higher upper age limit has been prescribed for any such service or post, or
Where the upper age limit has been specially prescribed for uniform services like police, fire services, excise services etc., and/or where a Physical efficiency test has been prescribed in the recruitment rules.
However, the above upper age limit shall further be relaxable in case of ST/SC/SEBC/Women/Ex-servicemen and PwDs as prescribed by the Government from time to time, the release stated.
