By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 16, 2025: The state capital here will shortly have a face lift with the Mohan Majhi government deciding to adopt Nagpur model of elevated corridors to ease traffic congestion from Jayadev Vihar Square to Nandankanan, covering one of the busiest stretches in the city.
Odisha Public Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday said, “We are working on a design of two floored highway where the first floor will be for the cars and the second one will be for metro rail.”
The construction will follow a Nagpur-like elevated corridor in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of around Rs 2,700 crore to ease major traffic bottlenecks.
Sharing more details, the Minister had informed that the construction is set to begin by the end of April, with work progressing in phases. The work is underway for the preparation of the Detail Project Report (DPR).
Apart from this, bypass roads will be developed at all major intersections to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise disruptions during construction.
