By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, February 9, 2023: President Droupadi Murmu will arrive here on Friday on a two-day visit to her home state. She will attend the second convocation of Rama Devi Women’s University and attend some other event in the twin cities on Friday and Saturday.
Some 40 platoons of police force will be deployed for the President’s visit.
She is scheduled to attend the foundation day of Jnanaprabha Mission at the Utkal Mandap on Friday afternoon. Later she will attend the second convocation of Rama Devi Women’s University, Murmu’s alma mater. She will also inaugurate a banquet hall at the Governor’s residence and spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
On the second day, she is scheduled to visit Lingaraj Temple to pay obeisance to the Lord and then attend a programme at the National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) Cuttack before returning to Delhi.
DGP Sunil Bansal visited the places where President’s programmes have been scheduled. He also reviewed the security arrangements. A carcade rehearsal was conducted in the city on the eve of Murmu’s visit in the presence of the DGP.
“According to the Blue Book rules, we have made arrangements at different places starting from Biju Patnaik International Airport. To monitor and oversee the security arrangements, 14 DCP rank officers, 47 inspector rank officers and other police officials have been engaged. Everything is set for the President’s visit,” Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh added.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra has already reviewed the preparations at a high-level meeting held here on Monday. He had directed his officials to ensure error-free arrangements during the President’s visit.
The women’s university is jubilant about the visit of its alumnus, who is now President of the country. Students, alumni, teachers and staff of the university are excited to welcome Murmu. She completed her intermediate and Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Rama Devi Women’s University (erstwhile Rama Devi Women’s College) between 1975 and 1979.
