By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, November 12, 2021: Several parts of Odisha were lashed by rainfall on Friday due to a low-pressure area formed over Tamil Nadu, even as the Met office warned of heavy showers till Sunday morning.
A fresh depression is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal next week as a cyclonic circulation that lies over the Gulf of Thailand may lead to the formation of a fresh Lopar over the south Andaman Sea by Friday, the Meteorological Centre here said.
It is likely to move northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over east-central and southeast Bay of Bengal on Monday, it said.
A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with a Lopar over north Tamil Nadu to north-coastal Odisha.
Some places in Ganjam district experienced heavy rainfall, while light to moderate downpour occurred at many areas over south-coastal Odisha, some places in north-coastal Odisha, at one or two places over south Odisha, the Met centre said.
Rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts till Sunday morning. Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara may receive heavy showers till Saturday morning.
