By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneshwar, October 15, 2019: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced infrastructure development activities for hospitals in Naxal infested Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts.
He also announced a grant of Rs 15 lakh to all four ‘Rogi Kalyan Samitis’ (patient welfare committees) in the state.
The announcement was made on the basis of a report from officials who toured 15 districts to follow-up on the implementation of ‘5T’ and ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiatives.
“For Mo Sarkar, we focussed on police and health. I made 120 calls (from October 2) and the responses have been overwhelming, bed capacity for hospitals will be increased to 200. Bus services from Motu to Malkangiri will be provided daily for the benefit to people visiting the hospitals. Detailed planning has been approved for a composite hospital with 500 beds at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput,” Patnaik remarked.
For Malkangiri district hospitals, the CM announced construction of doctor accommodation and transit home, rest shed for attendants of patients. The hospital’s bed capacity will be increased to 200. Bus services from Motu to Malkangiri will be provided daily for the benefit of people visiting the hospital.
Patnaik said the bed strength will be increased to 200 in Nabarangpur hsopital. Besides, a 200-bed new hospital will also be constructed. Rest shed for patients’ attendants will be built in the hospital premises. The government has also decided to provide three ambulances and three Mahaprayana or hearses to the hospital.
He also declared to increase 250 beds at Koraput district hospital besides constructing a new ward on top of the existing hospital building. Staff quarters and rest shed for attendants of patients will be built on the premises of the hospital. Two new ambulances with lifesaving equipment will also be provided to the hospital.
