By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, October 28, 2017: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked the secretaries to visit various districts for four days during the first week of every month as a part of field visit.
While addressing the collectors’ workshop here, Patnaik said, “To ensure proper implementation of schemes and programmes of the government and to ensure actual delivery of services to people, it is important that other supervisory officers right from the Heads of the Departments to Block Level Extension functionaries make intensive field visits,” the CM said.
“Priority programmes and schemes of the government, which are being discussed in the today’s conference, shall be inspected in the field by the secretaries methodically,” he added.
Mentioning that a period of eight months is ahead of the onset of next monsoon, Patnaik said the period should be utilised to speed up the execution of the development works by all the concerned departments and agencies.
The CM said he will specifically review the performance of works related departments after one month.
He also sought a report from the secretaries and the collectors on the suggestions made in the last workshop and inputs received from people on web portal.
Patnaik also announced a slew of measures like setting up science park in every district, provision of filters in about 300 flouride affected villages in Nuapada district, piped water supply in salinity affected districts of Puri, Bhadrak and Kendrapada, repair of defunct lift irrigation points on priority basis etc.
