By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar August 1, 2017: Air travellers from Odisha have something to smile with SpiceJet announcing to launch its flight operations to Sharjah and New Delhi shortly from Biju Patnaik International Airport here.
However, the Airline is yet to announce a firm date of starting the operation from here.
Air travellers have welcomed the planned launch new international and domestic flight operations by SpiceJet as they are left with no option but to either travel to Mumbai or Delhi to connect to international gateways.
Earlier, AirAsia had started operations from Bhubaneshwar to Kuala Lumpur opening up new avenues for people in Odisha planning a visit to the Far East and Australia.
At present, AirAsia is operating direct flight services to Kuala Lumpur five days a week from Bhubaneswar airport.
The international flight operation from Bhubaneswar is likely to play a crucial role in boosting the tourism potential in Odisha in particular, said tour operators in the city.
AirAsia has also started its daily operation in domestic circuits— Bengaluru-Kolkata-Bhubaneswar and a total of 20 flights are engaged in operations from Bhubaneswar to 10 cities within the country.
Interestingly, other Airliners including Jet Airways also have shown interest in having a foothold here.
