By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, June 12, 2017: Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that Centre cannot intervene in the issue as it is matter of sub judice.
Addressing a press conference after attending Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sammelan here on Monday to present the report card of three years of government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu defended the Centre in Mahanadi issue.
When asked about the possibility of drought like situation in Odisha if Chhattisgarh government will not release Mahanadi River water into the lower catchment area, Naidu said, “Odisha government may inform the court about it.”
The matter needs to be resolved. The state government should think about the issue and make solution, he said.
Notably, the union ministers are visiting across the country to inform people about the policies, welfare programmes and schemes launched by the BJP-led NDA government.
“On the completion of three years of Modi government, all 350 members of BJP including union ministers, MPs, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers are visiting 900 places during 15 days to submit the report card of the pro-people initiatives taken by the government in the past three years. By June 15, we all reaching 900 places,” he told media.
The BJP leaders are organising Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and Modi fest programmes. The photo exhibition is also being held by DAVP and they are meeting the beneficiaries getting benefits under various welfare schemes, he added.
He clarified the term ‘Modi fest’, which is not Narendra Modi, but Making Of Development India festival.
The union minister also monitored cleanliness and other operations in AIR & PIB offices in Bhubaneswar along with his colleague Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Later in the day, speaking at a function of intellectuals at Cuttack to mark three years of the Narendra Modi government and its plank of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ (development of all), Naidu said empowerment of all sections of society, including women, youth and the poor, lies at the core of the schemes and programmes launched by the government.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress and its leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the senior BJP leader said the grand old party believes in 3Ds i.e defame, disturb and disrupt while BJP is moving ahead with only one D in its agenda- development.
“We follow only one D of development, but Congress believes in 3Ds (defame, disturb and disrupt). The prime work of Congress is to defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is always working for the development of the country, disrupt the Parliament over petty issues and disturb people spreading false information on central government schemes.”
“Why did not Congress think of crop insurance and irrigation to farm land in its 50 years of rule while Modi introduced Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana only within three years in office?” he asked.
He assured the residents of Cuttack that his ministry would provide all necessary financial help for the development of the silver city in a holistic way.
