By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, May 9, 2017 : Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday inaugurated a national conclave on ‘Skill Development Initiatives in the Hydrocarbon Sector here.
He also launched a three-month short-term computer course exclusively for girls. The short term computer course was launched as part of the first foundation day celebration of the Bhubaneswar based Skill Development Institute (SDI).
Thirty girls would be imparted training in each batch, the union minister said.
Senior officers of oil companies, academicians, consultants and training partners in skills industry, senior industry members from different part of the country as well as the state took part in the national conclave.
Verghese Cherian, chairman of SDI, Bhubaneswar, B Roy, director (HR) of OIL, D D Mishra, director (HR) of ONGC, Pushp Joshi, director (HR), HPCL, V C Bhandare, director (HR), EIL and N N Rao, SDI CEO were present on the occasion.
Pradhan presented tool kits of worth Rs 50,000 each to two students of 1st batch of SDI, Bhubaneswar, to begin their entrepreneurship journey after completion of their session this year
He felicitated ‘Medha Servo’ as the best recruiter of SDI, Bhubaneswar for giving the largest number of employment opportunities to the passed out students.
Cherian said, “We are hopeful of setting up a world class skill development institute in Bhubaneswar very soon. We at SDI aim to harness the potentialities of the youths of Odisha to make them more skillful.”
