By Nageshwar Patnaik in Bhubaneswar, April 11, 2017 : Buoyed by success in the recent assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] is all set to work out a long term strategy in the party’s national executive meet to be held on April 15 and 16 hereto remain in power in the coming years.
“With such a huge success in the Assembly polls in five states in the country, it is natural for the party to discuss the future strategy to retain the winning spree in the coming days. The BJP led government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also completing 3 years in power next month. Which why the Bhubaneswar National Executive meeting has a special relevance and significance”, union minster for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said in an interview.
Pradhan also made it clear that the party’s next target is Odisha where the BJP tasted huge success in panchayat polls held recently. “I am grateful to the national leaders for having decided to hold the party’s National Executive meet after a gap of 20 years”, he remarked.
In fact, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to make use of the meet by holding public rallies in all 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Eleven Union ministers and 10 senior MPs will address public meetings and hold road shows in the districts and blocks between April 8 and 14.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of 13 BJP-ruled States and 35 central ministers are scheduled to attend the meeting. During the two day meeting, 334 delegates will take part in various discussions. The BJP Parliamentary Board will also meet.
State BJP vice-president, Sameer Mohanty said as many ministers and their department secretaries are arriving to attend the meet, they will look into how effectively central government schemes have been implemented. “There will be a special focus on the use of central funds by the states”, he added.
Particularly, with Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik alleging central neglect in most of his speeches, the Centre is all set to review the performance of state government in implementing various centrally sponsored schemes and funds during the two-day BJP national executive meet beginning on Friday.
Mohanty along with other leaders on Tuesday unveiled posters for hoardings and a song cassette to welcome prime minister and all the delegates.
The meeting will be held over an area of 80000 sq ft would have a temporary PMO office operating out of it. There would be a separate lounge for party president Amit Shah as well as separates offices for all the 13 chief ministers of BJP-ruled States and three deputy chief ministers. Forty union ministers will take part in the meet. There would be a common dining hall where Modi would have meals with all the delegates.
