By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 30, 2017 : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached the properties worth about Rs 35 crore of self-styled god men Sura Baba and Sarathi Baba, now in jail custody.
Besides, the ED has attached properties worth Rs 8.20 crore of arrested D-brothers, Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.
The agency has attached the land and houses in the name of Sura Baba and his two sons inside the Trahi Achyuta Ashram in Jhinti of Khurda district. The value of these properties is estimated to be around Rs 12.6 cr. Moreover, the sleuths have also attached bank deposits to the tune of Rs 2.35 crores, sources said.
The ED also has attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 11.4 crore of Sarathi Baba and his close devotees, associates.
On the basis of FIR registered by the CB, CID of Odisha police and charge sheet filed in the court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Sadar, Cuttack against Sarathi baba alias Santosh Kumar Roul, an investigation was taken up by the ED.
The ED found through investigation that Baba has laundered the ill-gotten money collected as donations from the gullible devotees and has invested in land and building held in his name and in the name of Satyam Charitable Trust, his son, nephew and his close devotees/associates. He had opened bank accounts in the name of his son, nephew and close devotees/associates to project the ill-gotten money as untainted properties.
In yet another significant move, the ED on Wednesday attached properties worth Rs 8.20 crore of dreaded D-brothers, Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.
As per reports, ED also confiscated bank deposits of a whopping Rs 3.5 crore held by the criminal siblings and seized the Rs 3.6 crore found in their possession at the time of arrest. Besides, the law enforcement agency attached their house in the CDA area of Cuttack.
As many as 19 cases have been filed so far against the Dhalasamant brothers out of which, they have been produced before the court for their involvement in 11 cases.
Recently, eight new cases were lodged against the duo at three different police stations in the Capital city.
