By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, February 10, 2017: The head post offices at Rourkela, Koraput and Sambalpur are in the list of three locations across the State where the Ministry of External Affairs has decided to open Post Office Passport Seva Kendras.
Prompted by the successful operationalisation of the two pilot projects, one at Mysuru by Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliament Affairs H.N. Ananth Kumar on January 25 and another in Dahod of Gujarat the same day, the government has decided to scale up the programme by opening 56 kendras, including three in Odisha, as per an announcement made by the MEA.
The selected location would act as regional centres for providing documentation services to applicants. The centres would be called as Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK). The centres would provide offline as well as online services for greater reach to the people in view of surge in applications.
