ConcorBy Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, July 25, 2016 : The state-run Container Corporation of India (Concor) has shown interest in developing a Multi Modal Logistic Park (MMLP) at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, officials said.

For the logistic park, it will require 50 acres of land. In a letter to the state industry secretary, Concor’s chief general manager Sharad Verma has sought “availability of encumbrance free land parcel of around 50 acres with the possibility of rail connectivity in and around Kalinganagar area for development of MMLPs at the earliest”.

Concor, the mini-ratna Central PSU, had earlier evinced interest to establish MMLPs at Duburi in Jajpur district.

“The land acquisition at Duburi seemingly is a cumbersome and time consuming process therefore a request to your good self was made to consider facilitating a land acquisition process at Kalinganagar instead of Duburi,” said Verma in his latter.

The land acquisition matter was also discussed during the export promotion meeting headed by union commerce secretary. They also held a meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik recently.

At present, Concor is operating container terminals at Balasore and Rourkela.

“MMLP in Jharsuguda is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned shortly. Besides the same, we are proposing to set up Multimodal Logistic Parks both at Duburi (Kalinganagar area) and Parjang (Angul area) apart from a port side container terminal at Paradeep Port,” Verma said in the letter.

By establishing MMLP at strategic locations across the country with the help of state governments and trade bodies, Concor wants to emerge as a significant player in all newly planned industrial satellites likely to emerge across the highly potential corridors like DMIC (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor) and AKIC (Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor), likely to be developed alongside Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors.
