By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar April 19, 2016 : The Transport department in Odisha has achieved a record growth in tax collection in the 2015-16 by collecting 97.5 % of the target amount, officials said.
The department’s tax collection was up by 14.55 % compared to the previous fiscal.
The department has collected Rs 1043.32 crore towards motor vehicle tax against a stiff collection target of Rs 1070 crore for the last fiscal, the sources added.
Bhubaneswar RTO-II has emerged as the highest tax collector among all the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
As per information, the target for the RTO-II was Rs 32.07 crore and it surpassed the target amount by collecting Rs 38.84 crore. While the RTO-II has registered a 121 % growth in total income it has recorded a growth rate of 45.3 % as compared to last year.
However, Bhubaneswar RTO-I collected Rs 108.75 crore against a target of Rs 121.78 crore.
