By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 28, 2016 : Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Sabyasachi Mohapatra’s ‘Pahada Ra Luha’ (Tears of Mountain) on Monday bagged the best Odia film in the regional category at the 63nd National Film Awards announced at New Delhi.
This is second year in a row, Mohapatra’s film gets the coveted award. The 66-year-old producer and director’s film ‘Adim Vicharha’ (Ancient Justice) had won the coveted award at the 62nd National Film Awards.
Incidentally, it took nearly 25 years for Sabyasachi to complete the film, which highlights problems of displacement of tribals due to industrialization. Pahadara Luha primarily addresses the various problems of Paraja tribals in the Koraput district of the state after they were displaced due to development projects.
“I am excited to hear that the film, which took off some 25 years ago, got the award. I always try to make a good cinema which is why I take long time to fine tune the script and the settings. I am extremely happy to have got the award,” the unassuming filmmaker told “Bizodisha.com”
‘Adim Vichar’, a sequel of ‘Sala Budha’, is based on the lives of the tribal people of Odisha. The movie, based on Sabyasachi’s father Kapileswar Prasad Mohapatra’s short story, is about a righteous elderly Kondh tribal, who turns rebellious when he is implicated in a case and produced before a court.
