By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar, March 9, 2016: The Odisha government on Tuesday ordered probe into the Monday’s boat capsize incident in Dhenkanal district in which two persons died and four remained untraced.
The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohapatra directed the district collector to probe into the incident and submit its report.
“The boat was carrying 30-35 passengers from Surapratappur village to Daudeswar Shiva temple in Gondia which capsized in Brahmani river. The boat left the Chandipal Ghat for its destination which is not a government-auctioned Ghat. Dhenkanal district collector has been asked to probe into the matter and efforts are on to trace the four missing persons,” SRC Mr Mohapatra informed.
The body of an 18-year-old girl identified as Rubina Rout was fished was fished out late on Monday night and body of a nine-year-old boy identified as Satya Narayan Swain was recovered this morning taking the toll to two.
Four others remained untraced till the filing of this report.
“Search and rescue missions are on by two rescue teams and local fire department personnel,” said the SRC.
Following the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the district administration to carry out search and rescue missions on a war footing.
