By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar,March 03: Daughter-in-law of independent MLA from Champua assembly segment in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday filed a harassment complaint against the legislator here at Mahila Police station.

The complainant Kabita Mahakud levelled harassment allegations against legislator Sanatan Mahakud.
“I don’t know who has filed the complaint against me. My daughter-in-law is in my house,” Sanatan Mahakud said.
The eldest daughter-in-law alleged that Sanatan’s husband married her at Malkangiri two years ago. However, a few days ago, Pankanj’s brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Dinabandhu Barik went there and forcibly brought him to Keonjhar.

In Keonjhar, the MLA got his son married to another woman.

“We had a love marriage. We are leading conjugal life till Dinabandhu Barik arrived in Malkangiri a few months ago and forcibly brought Pankanj back to Keonjhar. When I protested, they threatened to kill me. I demand a fair probe,” said Kabita.

She produced a number of photographs in which the couple and their one-year-old daughter are seen.
Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of police (CP) Y.B. Khurania said he had sought a detailed report from deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi on the complaint lodged by Kabita.

“I have sought a report from the DCP. Appropriate actions will be taken basing on the report,” said the CP.
