By Bizodisha Bureau, Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday asked his ministers and department secretaries to tour the districts at least for four days in a month to monitor the implementation of different developmental schemes and welfare programmes in different districts.
The chief minister’s direction came int eh wake of of a review meeting on the progress of developmental activities in the tribal districts of Kandhamal and Nuapada.
Patnaik said there would be no meeting in the state secretariat during first weeks of every month to facilitate the ministers and secretaries to undertake district visits,. The order would be implemented from November 1.
“The ministers and secretaries will monitor implementation of different developmental schemes and welfare programmes in different districts,” a release issued by the Chief Minister’s office said.
After receiving report from Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary A P Padhi and KBK chief administrator Ashok Tripathy, Patnaik directed the authorities that rural electrification works in the districts of Nuapada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur would be completed by October 15, 2016.
He asked the energy department to set up a project monitoring group to keep a tab on the rural electrification works in the four tribal districts.
Padhi and Tripathy in their reports pointed out the need to expedite development of programmes related to health, education, irrigation, electrification and other activities in Kandhamal and Nuapada districts.
While Padhi has been appointed as the monitoring officer for Kandhamal district, Tripathy has been assigned the development of Nuapada district.
